That thing I said earlier, about him having some sort of cave "fetish?"
I'd like to take that back, or amend it, or something.
Looking through all of this, I'm realizing that it was in no way a fetish. It was real.
It was a real, real thing that he had for caves, a real desperate, beautiful, and emotional connection that he made.
I suppose a fetish is real, yes, and a connection of a kind. But not like this.
This wasn't a kink, or just something that got him off, or a hobby, or an affectation, or any of that stuff.
This was just who he was.
